RCB Beat LSG in IPL 2022 Eliminator, Advances to Qualifier 2

Tonight’s fixture between LSG and RCB is an excellent thriller, that included a maiden century from RCB’s Rajat Patidar who went on to become the player of the match.

Maybe none can use a playoff chance better than RCB, who successfully defended their huge score in a nail-biting match. Here’s how it went;

RCB Beat LSG By 14 Runs

Winning the toss and opting to bowl first, LSG struck early by dismissing Faf du Plessis for a golden duck. But Virat Kohli and Rajat Patidar added 66 runs to the second wicket! Though Kohli was dismissed after a slow inning, Patidar went on to score his maiden IPL century (112*) and remained unbeaten till the end.

He, along with Dinesh Karthik (37*) at the end, added 80+ runs in the last five overs. Together, the du Plessis and Co have made a grand total of 207 runs in designated overs. Except for Mohsin Khan, the rest of the LSG bowlers have been thrashed.

With a huge target of 208 runs, LSG lost their in-form batsman Quinton de Kock in the very first over. But the skipper KL Rahul stood throughout the innings to take his team home. He partnered with Manan Vohra and Deepak Hooda to add nearly 130 runs in 14 overs and seemed fine between the CRR and RR.

But the tactical bowling from Josh Hazelwood and Harshal Patel in death overs restricted LSG to 193 runs in their 20 overs. Hard hitters like Evin Lewis, Krunal Pandya, and Marcus Stoinis have failed to perform when needed and eventually winded up with low scores.

With this loss, LSG is eliminated from the IPL 2022 – their first season where the team made a grand entry and stood in the top spots most of the time. RCB on the other hand will play against Rajasthan Royals tomorrow (27th May) in the Qualifier 2, scheduled at Eden Gardens, Kolkata.
