RCB Registered Their First Win of IPL 2022

With the likes of Dinesh Karthik and Josh Hazelwood, RCB marked their fourth win of IPL 2022. Even though there’s a serious dew factor, RCB has successfully defended its 189 against Delhi Capitals, who fell short by 16 runs. Here’s how it went.

IPL 2022: RCB vs DC Match Result

Losing the toss and forced to bat first, RCB didn’t get the start it desired. Opener Anuj Rawat has gone for a golden duck, while du Plessis too struggled to draw runs from DC’s sharp pace. After these two leaving the crease before powerplay, Virat Kohli too was sent back to dugout after a marvelous run out by Lalit Yadav.

Though the top order failed, the evergreen Glenn Maxwell came with some big shots, and added some 50+ runs partnering with Suyash and Shahbaz Ahmed. Yet, this wasn’t enough. The score was in mere 90s when he left the crease, and welcomed the much reliable batsmen of RCB – Dinesh Karthik.

Karthik played the much needed innings for RCB, scoring 66 off 34 balls and put up a target of 190 before Delhi Capitals. On DC’s bowling front, none but Axar Patel and Shardul Thakur has been inexpensive.

With a target of 190 runs, Delhi made a good start of scoring 50 runs in first five overs, and Prithvi Shaw getting caught just after this opening partnership. But David Warner continued smashing and added another 44 runs with Mitchell Marsh.

But that didn’t help DC, as the team struggled at the end and eventually folded at 173-7 in designated overs. Captain Aside Warner, captain Rishabh Pant has been fair with 43(17). And in RCB’s bowling unit, everyone except Josh Hazelwood had leaked runs. Yet, they made it anyway, and won over DC with a 16-run margin.

This shooted RCB to the third place on points table, while DC stuck at its current No.8 spot. Dinesh Karthik for his wonderful innings in RCB’s batting lineup, was awarded the man of the match.
