Walking into the 46th match of IPL 2022, we see Chennai Super Kings facing off Sunrisers Hyderabad tonight at MCA stadium, Pune.
Just in a 6-month period, CSK, the defending champions have seen the worst fall ever in their IPL history. One of their star opening pair from last year isn’t available, while the other is struggling to stand for long. The only two helpers – Robin Uthappa and Shivam Dube, and sometimes Ambati Rayudu are the only ones CSK is relying heavily on batting.
In terms of bowling, the lack of Deepak Chahar is evident. Although Mukesh Choudhary and Dwayne Bravo are doing their part, a genuine pace with strong swing is still needed. Yet, they managed somehow with the help of Maheesh Theekshana. And with Moeen Ali’s return and Dhoni captaining CSK again, we may see the 4-time champion powering back again.
After settling at bottom of the last year’s points table and even this year’s beginning, Sunrisers Hyderabad is flying high this season. Both their departments are reliable, with the likes of Rahul Tripathi, Abhishek Sharma, and Aiden Markram firing at the right times in batting, while Umran Malik, Marco Jansen, and Naratajan sparking in bowling.
Except for Kane Williamson, everyone else is doing fair and good. Being a team that’s having only one spinner, SRH is managing every match properly. Although, making slight changes in both batting and bowling lineups may help the team better.
