With the likes of Suryakumar Yadav and Deepak Hooda, India clenched their second win over West Indies in the ongoing T20 series. While Kyle Mayers shined well, it had gone in vain as West Indies failed to defend their target. Here’s how it went;
Leading the T20 Series
Winning the toss and opting to bowl first, India didn’t get the start they wanted. Both the Windies openers stood until powerplay, while Kyle Mayers went on to play the best innings for his team. He partnered with King and Pooran to add 128 runs in 16 overs, with the rest job down by Hetmyer and Rovman Powell.
Together, these both took the scoreboard to par 160 runs in designated overs. While Hooda, Hardik Pandya, and Ashwin defended well, Avesh Khan, Bhuvneshwar, and Arshdeep were thrashed at the end.
With a target of 165 runs, Rohit Sharma gave a good start to India’s innings but walked out early as retired hurt. Yet, Suryakumar Yadav and Shreyas Iyer dragged the innings to better – adding 85+ runs in 10 overs. While Suryakumar walked out at 76 runs, the rest job was completed by Rishab Pant and Deepak Hooda.

Comfortably, India chased the set target without any hassle. In terms of bowling, all Windies bowlers are fairly thrashed by Indian batsmen.
For his wonderful knock of 76 (44), Suryakumar Yadav was named the player of the match. With this win, India leads the T20 series against West Indies by 2-1, with two more matches remaining this week.
West Indies has already lost the ODI series by 0-3 to India. Yet, they are still in the race. They got two more games left with India in this T20 series, and winning them both will have their respect regained from the lost ODI series.
