In a breathtaking finish, Punjab Kings (PBKS) seamer Arshdeep Singh delivered a match-winning performance against Mumbai Indians (MI) on Saturday at the Wankhede Stadium. Defending 15 runs in the final over, Arshdeep broke the middle-stump with searing yorkers on consecutive deliveries, denying MI’s chase of 215 runs and securing a 13-run victory for PBKS.

With MI poised for a record 200-run chase at the Wankhede, courtesy of Suryakumar Yadav’s 57 and Cameron Green’s 67, the match seemed to be slipping away from Punjab Kings. However, Arshdeep turned the tide in the final over, first dismissing Tilak Varma and then impact player Nehal Wadhera, breaking the middle-stump twice in a row.

Though he missed out on a hat-trick, Arshdeep continued his stellar performance by bowling a wide yorker to Jofra Archer, conceding just two runs in the final over. This sensational finish, which seemed highly improbable at one stage, handed Punjab Kings their fourth win in seven games.

Arshdeep’s heroic efforts were on full display earlier in the match as well. In his third over, the left-arm seamer dismissed Suryakumar, giving away just nine runs. With a 4/29 haul in four overs, Arshdeep emerged as PBKS’ leading wicket-taker this season.

The last over began with Arshdeep conceding just two runs off the first two balls, keeping MI’s hopes alive. However, his blistering yorker on the third delivery shattered Varma’s middle stump, followed by a similar fate for Wadhera on the very next ball. Arshdeep maintained his composure and concluded the over with two more dot balls, sealing PBKS’ 15-run victory.

Arshdeep Singh’s thrilling performance under immense pressure showcased his skill and determination, and it played a crucial role in propelling Punjab Kings towards victory. As the IPL season continues, Arshdeep’s incredible bowling will undoubtedly be an asset to PBKS’ campaign.
