Bad luck of KKR continues to follow, as they lost their 5th match (out of 7) already in this tournament. Delhi Capitals, with the likes of Prithvi Shaw and Shikhar Dhawan, has achieved their 5th win by a great margin of 21 balls and 7 wickets left. This shot the DC’s place to second onboard and also added a good chunk of net run rate.
Prithvi Shaw Killing From Inception
Winning the toss and opting to bowl, Delhi Capitals made a fine breakthrough in the middle of a power play by taking Nitish Rana off the crease. While Shubman Gill is trying to build a quality partnership with Rahul Tripathi, DC’s Stoinis pulled him down too.
Soon after Tripathi, Lalit Yadav has sent KKR’s skipper Eoin Morgan and Sunil Narine in a back-to-back succession for ducks. When everything’s falling apart, Andre Russell once again saved KKR by smashing a much-needed knock (45 off 27) along with Gill and Karthik to put a defendable 154 runs on board.
As Delhi won many of its around 150-run targets, this too seemed the same – and happened! Openers Prithvi Shaw and Shikhar Dhawan have given the best start once can ask, putting 132 runs in 14 overs. While they’re driving through a win with a big margin, Pat Cummins slowed their speed a bit by dismissing Shaw, Dhawan, and Pant in hid quality spell.
Yet, Stoinis and Pant have added the leftovers and completed the chase with 21 balls remaining. A notable incident of this match is the first over of the second innings, where Shaw hit six boundaries (all fours) to Shivam Mavi and drawn 25 runs (with a wide) altogether. This made their chase easier and hit KKR’s confidence.
