Paul Pogba

Inter Milan are the latest club to be linked with a move for Red Devils star Paul Pogba. However, as the reports suggest, the Nerrazuri will have to part ways with Lautaro Martinez in any deal for the Frenchman.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is direly in need of a striker and sees the Argentinian striker as the perfect man to fill the void up front. Martinez is valued at £80m while the Red Devils are holding out Pogba for £150m.

However, a swap deal won’t be easy to chisel out for both parties given the fierce competition for the signatures of these players across Europe. United are likely to face stiff competition from Barcelona for Martinez’s signature, while Inter will lock horns with Real Madrid, who are long term admirers of Pogba.

The Frenchman has featured for United only 7 times this season, being restricted to the fringes majorly due to an injury.

“Paul came back after a long spell out, played two games, couldn’t go to Burnley, felt his ankle was sore,” said Solskjaer.

“We did a scan and it’s not the same injury, it’s a different injury, and when you get that scan you consult your own medical people as well, like I did when I was a player.”

“You want the best second opinion and the advice was to have it done. It’s not a major one and probably, as I said, three or four weeks.”

Pogba is also said to be keej on an exit and wants to link up with former coach Antonio Conte, who oversaw his development at Juventus. Inter could possibly take Romelu Lukaku’s help in a bid to convince the 26-year-old to choose the San Siro as his next destination.

However, any such swap between the two clubs is likely to happen in the summer rather than January.
