Manchester United is said to be plotting a double deal for Argentinian duo Lautaro Martinez and Leandro Paredes respectively. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is currently looking for reinforcements to bolster his attack and midfield and views both Martinez and Paredes as ideal men yo strengthen his roster.
Inter Milan have already made peace with the prospect of losing Lautaro Martinez this winter. The 22-year-old has netted 8 goals in 15 games for the Nerazzurri in Serie A. However, United won’t find it easy to poach the striker given that Barcelona is also eyeing a move for him.
On the other hand, Paredes has made only 4 appearances for Paris Saint Germain this season. He has been benched for more than usual and is frustrated underboss Thomas Tuchel. The 24-year-old has played only 25 times for PSG since joining Les Parisiens from Zenit St. Petersburg this January.
With Romelu Lukaku having departed to Inter Milan and Paul Pogba injured for half the season, Solskjaer is keen to add some fresh legs to his ailing squad to improve the quality.
Both Martinez and Paredes also fit Solskjaer’s bill as they are young players with experience of playing for big clubs.
Solskjaer also confirmed that United will be looking to sign players in January, following their 4-0 win over AZ Alkmaar in the Europa League.
“We are looking to strengthen in many positions,” he said at his post-match press conference.
“We are getting there but we still need two or three players to have enough numbers.”
The Red Devils have also been linked with RB Salzburg striker Erling Braut Haaland and Atletico Madrid midfielder Saul Niguez respectively. Borussia Dortmund forward Jadon Sancho is also said to be on their radar.
Manchester United will face Everton in the Premier League this evening, as they look to close the gap on fourth-placed Chelsea. It remains to be seen which player they manage to sign when the transfer window flings open in January.
