Rumours of Barcelona star Jean-Clair Todibo leaving the club in January have already been making rounds. And, now, Spanish publication Sport has said that Manchester United have shown an interest in signing the 19-year-old.
Todibo joined the Catalans in lieu for just €2m from the French outfit Toulouse in January this year. However, Ernesto Valverde has been unable to give him enough game time, given the pool of talent and cut-throat competition in the squad. He has made only three appearances for the LaLiga giants this season.
Manchester United have reportedly offered €17m for Todibo, but Barcelona has insisted on €25. The Blaugrana also want to insert a buy-back clause in any deal that sees the player leave, so that they can get him back to the Nou Camp if he excels.
Also, United aren’t the only club to be vying for the 19-year-old’s signature. AC Milan, Inter Milan, and Bayer Leverkusen have also registered an interest in signing him.
Meanwhile, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has distanced himself from rumours saying Manchester United are set to have a busy January transfer window.
“I’ll always have the final say on transfers,” he said.
“No one comes in the door without me saying yes. It has to be that way, even though signing players is a process involving other members of staff.”
“I don’t really speak to agents, because I have nothing to do with the money side of it, but the final decision on who becomes a Manchester United player will be mine.”
Manchester United have also been showing interest in signing Jadon Sancho, Saul Niguez and Erling Braut Haaland. It remains to be seen whether they do launch a bid to sign Todibo this winter.
The Red Devils are currently gearing up to face Newcastle on Boxing Day while Barcelona will lock horns with Espanyol next in January.
