This Privacy Policy explains how BabbleSports (“BabbleSports”, “we”, “us” or “our”) collects, uses, shares and protects information when you visit https://babblesports.com (the “Site”). It also explains the choices you have about advertising cookies and how you can exercise your privacy rights. Please read it together with our Terms of Use. If you do not agree with this Policy, please do not use the Site.

1. Who we are

BabbleSports is an online sports news publication covering the NBA, NFL, MLB, NHL, soccer, cricket, tennis and sports technology. The Site is owned and published by Web Cue LLC, a Delaware limited liability company (Delaware State File Number 7576591) with its registered office at 16192 Coastal Highway, Lewes, Delaware 19958, United States. 2. Information we collect

2.1 Information collected automatically

When you visit the Site, our web server, our content delivery and security provider (Cloudflare) and the third-party services described below automatically record technical information sent by your browser or device. This includes:

  • your IP address and approximate location derived from it (country or city level);
  • browser type and version, operating system, device type and screen size;
  • the pages you view, the date and time of your visit, how long you stay and the links you click;
  • the website that referred you to us (the “referrer”) and the search terms that brought you here, where available;
  • cookie identifiers and similar identifiers described in section 3.

We use this information to deliver the Site correctly, keep it secure, measure how it is used and support the advertising that funds our journalism. Server log files are kept for a limited period for security and troubleshooting and are then deleted or anonymised.

2.2 Information you give us

  • Email and contact: if you email us at [email protected] or use a contact form, we receive your name, email address and the content of your message, which we use to respond to you.
  • Comments: if you leave a comment, we collect the name and email address you enter, the comment itself and your IP address and browser user-agent string, which help us detect spam. An anonymised hash of your email address may be sent to the Gravatar service to check whether you use it; the Gravatar privacy policy is available at https://automattic.com/privacy/. After your comment is approved, your comment and profile picture are visible to the public.
  • Social sharing: if you use the share buttons on the Site (for example X/Twitter, Facebook, Pinterest or WhatsApp), you are taken to that platform, and its own privacy policy applies to any information you share there.

We do not require you to create an account to read the Site, and we do not knowingly collect payment card details, government identification numbers or other sensitive personal data.

3. Cookies and similar technologies

Cookies are small text files stored on your device by your browser. We and our partners use cookies, pixels, local storage and similar technologies for the following purposes:

  • Strictly necessary: cookies needed to operate the Site, remember your consent choices, protect against abuse and allow our caching and security layer (LiteSpeed Cache and Cloudflare) to work.
  • Analytics: Google Analytics cookies that tell us how visitors find and use the Site in aggregate (pages viewed, time on site, approximate location, device). See section 5.
  • Advertising: cookies set by Google and other advertising vendors to serve ads, measure their performance, limit how often you see the same ad and, where you have consented or where permitted by law, show ads based on your interests. See section 4.
  • Embedded content: cookies set by third-party platforms whose content we embed, such as X/Twitter posts or YouTube videos. See section 6.

You can control cookies through your browser settings: most browsers let you block or delete cookies and warn you before a cookie is set. Instructions are available for Chrome, Firefox, Safari and Microsoft Edge. If you block all cookies, some parts of the Site may not work as intended.

4. Advertising

The Site is free to read because it is supported by advertising. We use Google AdSense and Google Ad Manager, advertising services provided by Google LLC, to serve ads on the Site. Google and its partners use cookies and similar technologies to serve ads based on your visits to this Site and other websites on the internet, to measure ad performance and to prevent fraud.

  • Google’s use of advertising cookies (including the DoubleClick / DART cookie) enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visit to this Site and/or other sites on the internet.
  • You can opt out of personalised advertising by Google at any time at https://adssettings.google.com/ (Google Ads Settings).
  • You can read how Google uses information from sites or apps that use its services at https://policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites, and how Google uses cookies in advertising at https://policies.google.com/technologies/ads.
  • Third-party vendors and ad networks other than Google may also serve ads on the Site through Google Ad Manager. Their use of cookies is governed by their own privacy policies. Many of these vendors are members of the Network Advertising Initiative (NAI) or the Digital Advertising Alliance (DAA). You can opt out of interest-based advertising by these vendors at https://optout.networkadvertising.org/ (NAI), https://optout.aboutads.info/ (DAA) and, for European users, https://www.youronlinechoices.eu/.
  • Where the law requires your consent before personalised ads are shown (for example in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland), personalised ads are served only after you have given consent through the consent message displayed on the Site, and you can withdraw or change that choice at any time by clearing your cookies and revisiting the Site or by using the links above. Where you do not consent, you will still see ads, but they will not be personalised to you.

We do not sell your name, email address or other directly identifying personal data to advertisers. Advertisers do not receive personal data from us when you view or click an ad; the technical data described above is processed by the advertising vendors themselves under their own policies.

5. Analytics

We use Google Analytics, a web analytics service provided by Google LLC, to understand how visitors use the Site. Google Analytics uses cookies and collects information such as the pages you visit, how long you spend on them, how you arrived at the Site and approximate location. IP addresses are truncated/anonymised where the service supports it. Google may use this data in accordance with its privacy policy at https://policies.google.com/privacy. You can prevent Google Analytics from collecting your data by installing the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on at https://tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout.

6. Embedded content and links to other sites

Articles on the Site may include embedded content such as posts from X/Twitter, videos from YouTube, or posts from Facebook and Instagram. Embedded content from other websites behaves exactly as if you had visited that website: those platforms may collect data about you, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking and monitor your interaction with the embedded content, including if you are logged in to that platform. The Site also contains links to other websites, including sports leagues, broadcasters, retailers and news organisations. We are not responsible for the privacy practices or content of those sites and encourage you to read their privacy policies.

7. How we use information

We use the information described above to:

  • operate, maintain, secure and improve the Site and its content;
  • deliver and measure advertising, which funds the Site;
  • understand which stories and sections our readers value most;
  • respond to your messages, comments and requests;
  • detect and prevent spam, fraud, abuse and security incidents;
  • comply with our legal obligations and enforce our Terms of Use.

8. Legal bases for processing (EEA, UK and Switzerland)

If you are located in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or Switzerland, we rely on the following legal bases:

  • Consent for non-essential cookies, personalised advertising and analytics where consent is required by law. You may withdraw consent at any time as described in sections 3 and 4.
  • Legitimate interests in operating and securing the Site, measuring aggregate usage, serving non-personalised advertising and responding to your enquiries, provided those interests are not overridden by your rights.
  • Legal obligation where we must retain or disclose information to comply with the law.

9. How we share information

We share information only with:

  • service providers that host and protect the Site and help us run it, such as DigitalOcean (hosting), Cloudflare (content delivery and security) and Automattic/Akismet (comment spam filtering);
  • advertising and analytics partners described in sections 4 and 5, which collect data directly from your browser under their own privacy policies;
  • law enforcement, regulators or other parties when required by law, to protect our rights or the safety of others, or to investigate fraud or abuse;
  • a successor if the Site or its operating business is sold, merged or reorganised, in which case this Policy will continue to apply to your information.

We do not sell your directly identifying personal information for money. Some United States state laws treat the sharing of cookie data with advertising partners for cross-context behavioural advertising as a “sale” or “share”; you can opt out of that sharing using the links in section 4 or by contacting us as set out in section 12.

10. International transfers

The Site is published for a worldwide audience and our service providers, including Google, Cloudflare and DigitalOcean, process data on servers located in the United States and other countries. Where data about users in the EEA, UK or Switzerland is transferred outside those regions, our providers rely on safeguards recognised by applicable law, such as the EU-US Data Privacy Framework or the European Commission’s Standard Contractual Clauses.

11. Data retention

We keep server logs and security records for no longer than is necessary for the purposes described above, typically no more than 90 days unless a longer period is needed to investigate a security incident or comply with the law. Comments and their associated metadata are kept for as long as the article remains published so that follow-up comments can be recognised. Emails you send us are kept for as long as needed to deal with your request and for a reasonable period afterwards. Retention periods for data collected by Google and other partners are set by those partners and are described in their policies.

12. Your privacy rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:

  • request access to the personal data we hold about you and receive a copy of it;
  • request that we correct inaccurate personal data;
  • request that we delete your personal data;
  • request that we restrict or object to certain processing, including processing based on legitimate interests and any direct marketing;
  • receive your personal data in a portable format;
  • withdraw consent at any time, without affecting the lawfulness of processing carried out before withdrawal;
  • opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information for targeted advertising and not be discriminated against for exercising your rights (residents of California and other US states with privacy laws);

How to make a request: email [email protected] with the subject line “Privacy Request” and tell us which right you wish to exercise. To protect your data we can only act on requests from a person whose identity we have verified, so please send your request from the email address you used to interact with the Site (for example the address you used to comment or write to us) and describe the interaction. We will respond within 30 days, or within the shorter period required by applicable law, and will tell you if we need more time. You may also authorise an agent to make a request on your behalf, in which case we may ask for proof of that authorisation.

13. Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control

Some browsers can send a “Do Not Track” signal or a Global Privacy Control (GPC) signal. Where our advertising partners’ technology recognises GPC, it will be treated as a request to opt out of personalised advertising and the sale or sharing of personal information. Because there is no common industry standard for Do Not Track, the Site does not otherwise respond to that signal. The opt-out tools in section 4 work regardless of your browser’s settings.

14. Children

The Site is intended for a general audience and is not directed at children under 16 (or under 13 in the United States). We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us and we will delete it.

15. Security

We use reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect information, including HTTPS encryption across the whole Site, a web application firewall and DDoS protection provided by Cloudflare, login protection and rate limiting, regular software updates and restricted administrative access. No method of transmission over the internet or of electronic storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security. 16. Changes to this Policy

We may update this Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices, technology or the law. The date at the top of the page shows when it was last revised. If we make material changes we will post a notice on the Site. Your continued use of the Site after a change takes effect means you accept the revised Policy.
