As F1 makes a comeback in the Austrian GP, Valtteri Bottas Takes Pole in the Redbull Ring in Austria. This is the first Qualifying season in 2020 after the cancellation of Australian GP in which a member of Mclaren tested positive for the coronavirus.
Valtteri Bottas Takes Pole!
The Austrian Qualifying was a shocker to many as the teams, because the last year’s midfield team Racing Point, has got both of its cars to Q3. Ferrari is clearly struggling as its driver Sebastian Vettel couldn’t even make to Q3 which has never happened in his career in Ferrari albeit other ones were due to Mechanical Failures.
Mercedes in their new Black Livery have locked down the front row grid with Valtteri Bottas setting a blistering lap time of 1:02:939 which is a new lap record in the RedBull ring. Lewis Hamilton followed him in second and last year’s Austrian GP winner Max Verstappen sits pretty in third.
The Midfielders Racing Point and Mclaren also made it to Q3 with Lando Norris of Mclaren Fourth on the grid with Sergio Perez and Lance Stroll of Racing Point being sixth and ninth respectively.
Ferrari is in a new sort of trouble, with a PR nightmare after Sebastian Vettel coming out and saying that he was not offered a new contract. The Reds are slower than the Mercedes and Redbull which means they may not even get a podium in the two races in Austria.
The season of 2020 for Formula One which has been started in Austria after the coronavirus pandemic which forced the teams to cancel the races to keep its drivers and its staff safe. With new rules of Social Distancing, New Podium Procedures and empty seats in the Grandstand has brought a new feel to the sport that many love.
