If reports from Sport via The Express are to be believed, Barcelona is keen on raiding Inter Milan for Lautaro Martinez and Stefano Sensi in January. The Blaugrana chief and former player Eric Abidal reportedly wishes to sign the Nerrazuri duo when the transfer window flings open next month.
Barcelona are currently engaged in a cut-throat battle with Real Madrid in LaLiga. The Catalans have notched 34 points from 15 games, holding the top spot in the league table due to a better goal difference.
Stalwarts Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez have impressed but new signing Antoine Griezmann is yet to hit the ground running on the new pastures. The Frenchman has failed to impress consistently as he did with former employers Atletico Madrid, which has compelled Ernesto Valverde to look for reinforcements.
Lautaro Martinez has garnered rave reviews for his impressive displays at Inter Milan this season. The Argentine hitman has netted 7 goals in 15 Serie A games so far and notched 5 goals in as many games in the UEFA Champions League.
And, the report states that Abidal has enquired about the possibility of signing the in-form striker. Inter are said to be adamant on selling Martinez for anything less than £96m, which is his buyout clause.
Meanwhile, Stefano Sensi has also caught the eye of Barcelona with his performances. The 24-year-old, who arrived on loan at the San Siro this summer, has netted 3 goals and registered 2 assists in 7 appearances to date.
The report also states that Barcelona are confident of striking deals with Inter Milan given their good relationship with the Serie A giants. Both sides have overseen the transfers of Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Samuel Eto’o, and Ronaldo amongst themselves over the years.
Both Barcelona and Inter Milan are also gearing up to face each other in their last group stage game in the Champions League tomorrow.
