The Tennessee Titans were in the midst of a three-game funk but they still controlled their own destiny. As long as the Titans came away with a victory against the Jacksonville Jaguars, the Titans would be in the playoffs for the first time since 2009. Tennessee defeated Jacksonville 15-10.
Derrick Henry caught a screen pass in the second-quarter and he took it 66 yards for a touchdown (extra point blocked). Henry finished with 51 yards rushing on 28 carries. That was also his only reception of the game. Marcus Mariota completed 12-of-21 passes for 134 yards and one touchdown. He also rushed for 60 yards on 10 carries. Delanie Walker had three receptions for 19 yards for the Titans.
Ryan Succop made three field goals for the Titans (25, 39, and 38 yards). Josh Lambo made a 41-yard field goal in the second-quarter for the Jaguars.
In the fourth quarter, Marcus Mariota and Derrick Henry collided and fumbled, and Yannick Ngakoue returned a fumble 67 yards for a touchdown. On a third-and-5 play for the Titans before the two-minute warning, Marcus Mariota waited patiently and he scrambled 13 yards for a first down. The Jaguars had to use there timeouts and they would get the ball back with under :30 seconds remaining. Kevin Byard had an interception to seal the game for Tennessee. Byard had two interceptions on the day for the Titans and he had eight total on the year.
Blake Bortles completed 15-of-34 passes for 158 yards and two interceptions and he also rushed for nine yards on one carry. Leonard Fournette was Jacksonville’s leading rusher with 69 yards on 19 carries. He was also the Jaguars leading receiver with four receptions for 67 yards. Allen Hurns caught three receptions for 38 yards.
The Titans finish the regular season with a 9-7 record and they will be on the road against the Kansas City Chiefs (10-6) next Saturday Evening. The Jaguars finish the regular season with a 10-6 record and they will host the Buffalo Bills (9-7) next Sunday.
