After just one season being the Carolina Panthers defensive coordinator, the Arizona Cardinals have hired Steve Wilks as their next head coach. This comes after Bruce Arians decided to retire after remarkably leading the team to 8-8 this season.
At 48 years old, Wilks will bring the same aggressive style that Arians did in Arizona. Wilks had the Carolina defense ranked seventh in the NFL during the regular season. He will need to scheme well, especially given all the quarterbacking talent in the division. Since Carson Palmer retired, Arizona is going to have to find a quarterback in either the draft or free agency.
Arizona has the 15th pick in the NFL Draft. Also, the Cardinals were ranked sixth in the NFL in total defense during the regular season. Wilks will have the personnel needed in order to be successful. The Cardinals need to focus on fixing the offensive side of the ball in the offseason.
