Manchester United defender Lisandro Martinez has had a successful surgery on his foot following an injury sustained during the match against Sevilla last week. The talented player, who became a fan favorite after transferring from Ajax, will not play for the remainder of the season.
Martinez’s injury occurred during the closing stages of the game at Old Trafford when he suddenly fell to the ground clutching his foot. Initially, there were concerns about a potential Achilles injury, but a fractured metatarsal was eventually identified as the cause.
Sharing a post on social media from his hospital bed, Martinez expressed gratitude for the successful operation, saying, “Everything went really well, thanks to God! Many thanks for all of your messages. Now focusing on the recovery.”
United’s head coach, Erik ten Hag, has also lost Raphael Varane to injury, leaving the team with center-backs Harry Maguire and Victor Lindelof as their primary options. As the team looks to secure third place in the Premier League and compete for the Europa League and FA Cup titles, depth in the defensive area could be a concern until Varane returns.
