The New Orleans Saints scored points early and often in there 52-38 victory over the Detroit Lions. Kenny Vaccaro recovered a fumble in the end zone for a touchdown for the Saints in the first quarter. Golden Tate caught a 45-yard touchdown pass from Matthew Stafford for the Lions later in the first. Tate finished with 7 catches for 96 yards receiving and a touchdown.
Ted Ginn Jr. caught a 20-yard touchdown pass from Drew Brees later in the first. Ginn Jr. finished with four catches for 66 yards receiving and a touchdown. With the Saints leading 17-7 in the second, Mark Ingram scored on a 1-yard rush and he also scored on a 2-yard rush later in the second. Ingram finished with 114 rushing yards on 25 carries and 2 touchdowns, along with 36 receiving yards on five receptions.
Michael Hoomanawanui caught a 2-yard touchdown pass from Brees in the third quarter. Brees completed 21-of-31 passes for 186 yards 2 touchdowns and 2 interceptions. Marshon Lattimore picked off Stafford in the third-quarter and he returned it 27 yards to the house.
Marvin Jones caught a 22-yard touchdown pass later in the third for Detroit. Jones finished with 6 catches for 96 yards receiving and a touchdown. Darren Fells also caught a 22-yard touchdown pass from Stafford. Stafford completed 25-of-52 passes for 312 yards 3 touchdowns and 3 interceptions.
In the fourth quarter, Jamal Agnew returned a punt 74 yards to the house for the Lions. A’Shawn Robinson picked off Drew Brees for a touchdown from two yards out in the fourth. The Lions were only down 45-38 now, but Cameron Jordan picked off Matthew Stafford and it was a touchdown.
The Lions will head on a bye week and the Saints will head to Green Bay to face the Packers (4-2) next Sunday.
