The Philadelphia Eagles have acquired running back Jay Ajayi from the Miami Dolphins for a fourth round pick. He has rushed for 465 yards on 138 carries so far this season with the Dolphins. Ajayi hasn’t scored a touchdown this season. He has also caught 14 passes for 67 yards receiving.
The Dolphins are still in the playoff hunt and this is an interesting move. Does Miami think he has reached his potential? Last season, Ajayi rushed for 1272 yards on 260 carries and 8 touchdowns. He also had 27 receptions for 151 yards. Adam Gase might think that Kenyan Drake and Damien Williams is ready to break out. Gase also been tired of slow starts on offense and maybe he is making Ajayi the scapegoat.
The thing is why would Philadelphia do this? They already have LeGarrette Blount, Corey Clement, and Wendell Smallwood. Philadelphia is running the ball just fine and I think having Ajayi is going to mess up the Eagles chemistry. Ajayi is so inconsistent and he will either rush for two yards or 200 yards which is not good.
Ajayi was a fifth round pick in the 2015 NFL Draft.
