Whenever a team has Lebron James on it, it is either championship or bust. Lebron James has led his teams to seven straight finals and has only won three titles in those spans. The Cleveland Cavaliers are off to a 3-3 start and it is not what they imagined. Cleveland lost two consecutive games to the Brooklyn Nets and the New Orleans Pelicans.
Let’s face the facts about this team with Tyronn Lue as head coach. They are horrible defensively. He has no idea how to make in game adjustments. Lue is a just puppet for Lebron James and the rest of the squad.
As talented as Lebron James is, he can’t do it by himself and James needs a coach that preaches defense and knows how to in game adjust. The Cavaliers have given up over 100 points the last three games and they haven’t given up under 90 points yet this season. Cleveland might be older and slower, but they lack passion.
Lue was the coach when Cleveland won the 2016 championship after they fired David Blatt mid-season. The defense has gotten worse ever since Lue took over. If the Cavaliers are 15-15 after 30 games, they could make a coaching change. Could Larry Drew make sense for the Cavaliers if they went that direction? I think so.
