Shimron Hetmyer, the West Indies star cricketer who’s playing a key fishing role in IPL for Rajasthan Royals, has left the camp to go home all of a sudden!
This is to see the birth of his first child, and his stuff is still left in the room. He returns to Guyana and may be available for the next Rajasthan fixture scheduled on May 11th. His contributions with the bat were so appreciated, especially in the death overs.
Hetmyer Will Be Back Soon
On Sunday morning, it’s informed that Shimon Hetmyer – a key West Indies player of the Rajasthan Royals squad, has left the team to Guyana, his hometown, for the birth of his first child.
He said he was leaving his stuff back in the room, hinting that he’d return soon. Just last night, Hetmyer played a much-needed inning of 31*(16) against Punjab Kings to chase down a target of 190 runs. This led RR to mark their 7th win in IPL 2022 and strengthen their No.3 position in the points table.
Throughout this season, the 25yo Shimron Hetmyer scored 291 runs at an average of 72 and with 7 not-outs. He’s been exceptionally good at the death-overs, where he’s striking at 214.28 – placing him in the top-five most destructive finishers this season.
With his absence, some of the benched players like James Neesham, Daryl Mitchell, Karun Nair, Rassie van der Dussen and Nathan Coulter-Nile might join the squad to help RR with the bat in the middle order. Royals have their next three games with Delhi Capitals (May 11), Lucknow Super Giants (May 15), and Chennai Super Kings (May 20).
