In a thrilling Indian Premier League (IPL) encounter, Punjab Kings managed to secure a nail-biting 2-wicket victory over Lucknow Super Giants on April 15, 2023. Skipper KL Rahul led the charge with a well-compiled 74 off 56 balls, while Kyle Mayers contributed 29 runs. However, the Punjab Kings’ bowlers kept the opposition in check, with Sam Curran claiming three wickets for 31 runs. Kagiso Rabada and Harpreet Brar also picked up two and one wicket respectively.
In response, Punjab Kings had a shaky start, losing opener Atharva Taide for a duck in the first over. However, Matthew Short (34) and Harpreet Singh (22) steadied the innings before Sikandar Raza’s match-winning innings took center stage. Raza scored 57 runs off just 41 balls, hitting four boundaries and three sixes. His efforts were complemented by a cameo from M Shahrukh Khan, who scored 23 off 10 balls.
Lucknow Super Giants’ bowlers put up a valiant effort, with Yudhvir Singh claiming two early wickets. Mark Wood and Ravi Bishnoi also picked up two wickets apiece, while Krishnappa Gowtham and Krunal Pandya claimed one each. However, the target proved just within reach for Punjab Kings as they edged past their opponents in a tense finish.
