Bringing the curtains for a great career, the former Indian captain, Mahendra Singh Dhoni has just announced his retirement from the international cricket this evening. MS Dhoni hasn’t played a single match since the last year’s World Cup held in England. Fans started wailing on this announcement.
MS Dhoni Announced Retirement!
This is anticipated, as the former Indian captain is already 39 years old, and speculated by many analysts and fans to retire anytime soon. And he did it today, after a prolonged time. Though everyone thought he’d join the national team for one last time, he swiped these expectations with just one announcement.
He announced this through his Instagram handled, where he said, “Thanks. Thanks for ur love and support throughout.from 929 hrs consider me as Retired“. He shared this along with an IG video, which ran for 4 minutes with some of his memories since the beginning.
He succeeded Sourav Ganguly and shaped the Indian cricket team as one of the strongest contenders in the world. Though he was no succeeded by Virat Kohli, he was considered to be one of the world’s best captain of all time. Regarding his individual performance, he garnered over 10,000 runs in ODIs and nearly 5,000 runs in Tests.
He’s also the third wicketkeeper to bag over 800 dismissals, and India thrived with three World cups under his captaincy. He’s now gearing up to play the IPL 2020 scheduled in UAE, where he’d be heading Chennai Super Kings.
