Just as we noted before, the opening match for both Gujarat Titans and Lucknow Super Giants has ended as a pure nail biter!
IPL 2022: GT Wins Over LSG
Winning the toss and choosing to bowl, Gujarat Titans had a desired start of sending LPG’s skipper for golden duck, and crashing the entire top order down within powerplay! But, LSG’s middle order powered by Deepak Hooda, Ayush Badoni and Krunal Pandya ran up the scoreboard from 29/4 to 158/5.

Together, these three have put up a respectable total for LSG, of over 150 runs in the last 15 overs. Lockie Ferguson, Mohammad Shami and Rashid Khan has been economical, while the skipper Hardhik Pandya and Varun Aaron leaked the runs for LSG.
Though the target of 159 runs seemed reachable, Gujarat Titans too had a hard start to their second innings. They lost Shubman Gill and Vijay Shankar for a duck and 4 respectively. But, the GT’s wicket keeper and skipper has slowly build up a partnership that moved the scoreboard gradually.
And with the heroics of Hooda and Krunal, LSG got GT under its grip by clawing down Hardik and Matthew Wade in no time. And when everything’s thinking this crippled the GT’s progress, their middle order too has proved at the right time.

Rahul Tewatia and David Miller has beaten back to back boundaries, and significantly brought down the overall required run rate. Though Miller was caught at the end, youngster Abhinav Manohar pulled it off with Tewatia to the GT’s maiden IPL victory.
