The 2018 NBA London game featured the Philadelphia 76ers and the Boston Celtics battling it out for the third time this regular season. Both teams entered this game winners of their last four, but the Celtics ended up sealing the victory in the U.K. They won their seventh straight and third this regular season against the 76ers, 114-103.
The 76ers came out energetic, gaining a lead on the Celtics that grew to 21 points by the end of the first half. Joel Embiid was able to make an impact early getting to the foul line, finishing with 10 rebounds five assists, two steals and 15 points. J.J. Reddick had a great showing from three point range with five of nine. Out of all five starters Ben Simmons played the least amount of minutes with 29, but was able to make a few defensive plays with two steals and two blocks. Offensively however he only amassed three assists and 16 points to go along with two rebounds.
The Boston Celtics made adjustments during the half after being down over 20 points, and put together an incredible comeback in the second half of the game. Kyrie Irving and Jaylen Brown contributed 21 and 20 points, including a few key three pointers. Jayson Tatum scored 16 points, most of which came in the third and fourth quarter of the game. Marcus Morris also led the bench with 19 points, eight rebounds and two assists in 24 minutes. He brought much needed energy for the Celtics, even exchanging a moment with Ben Simmons after a foul Ben committed during a play in the last five minutes of the game. Terry Rozier also contributed two three pointers, one of which pushed Boston out to a 9-point lead early in the fourth.
Boston holds their spot at number one in the east, while Philadelphia gets ready for Toronto.
